Preparing project times for invoicing
Reliable invoicing starts with entries you can understand. This routine helps you review your time data before sending the invoice.
1. Scope the assignment
Note which services belong to the agreement, using one clearly named project. When extra work appears, clarify its scope with the client before treating it as chargeable.
2. Capture a little, every day
Enter your times on the same day wherever possible. Check the project assignment and describe activities so that you still understand them a week later. Personal or confidential client details do not belong in unnecessarily detailed notes.
3. Reconcile before invoicing
At the end of the week, look for missing entries and unusual time spans. Compare the total with your agreement and clarify open points. Only then transfer the reviewed figures into your invoicing workflow. For fixed prices, the overview can still inform your next estimate.
